Alison Tinker, CNM, better known as Ali, is a certified nurse midwife at Cherry Hills Midwifery, Obstetrics, & Gynecology in Englewood, Colorado. She specializes in providing trauma-informed care to people with a history of trauma, whether as a child or adult, including prior birth trauma. Clinical exams and procedures, including well-person visits, PAP screenings, IUD and Nexplanon placement, and all prenatal, labor, and delivery care are provided through a trauma-informed lens and with shared decision making between the patient and Ali. Compassion and consent are the hallmarks of her practice.
Ali is also an international speaker, teacher, and researcher on trauma-informed care. She received her first two bachelor’s degrees from Bond University in Australia in hospitality management and commerce. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing is from Regis University’s accelerated program, her Master of Science in Nursing is from Frontier Nursing University, and she is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing. She is certified as a perinatal mental health provider and is comfortable working with and managing perinatal mood disorders. Her research topics include perinatal mental health and the effects of prior trauma on people during their childbearing years. She teaches trauma-informed care to nursing and medical students, labor and delivery nurses, and medical providers who wish to incorporate trauma-informed care into their clinical practice.
Ali spent much of her life living overseas, growing up in Korea and living in Palau, Micronesia, and Australia. These experiences strongly influenced how she sees the world and the interconnectedness and similarities of all people. Ali is passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and is committed to providing compassionate care and creating spaces of true belonging in her life and professional work.
In her free time, Ali loves reading most of all. She adores being in nature backpacking and is newly fascinated with mushrooms. Live music and bluegrass festivals are a must in the summer. She has two super cool teenagers and a cat named Whiskers.
